Company History

1939 Komakichi Yamada, the first president, established a machine tool plant and started production of Cylinder Grinding Machine.
1943 Plant was designated as a naval factory and engaged in the manufacturing of precision tools. The factory was closed temporarily due to the end of World War U.
1952 With plans for major future development, Yamada Kikai Kogyo Co., Ltd. was established and incorporated.
1958 After conducting significant technological research, started to manufacture and sell a precision high-speed Zero-type vertical milling machine.
1961 Was commended as an excellent medium-small size company by the director of The Bureau of Tokyo International Trade and Industry.
Started to manufacture and sell precision high-speed 1/2 vertical milling machine.
1963 Organized a nation-wide service network of TOM retail outlets in response to increased demand for Automatic Tying Machine.
1967 Enhanced full-dressed efforts to export TOM Automatic Tying Machine.
1968 Received investment from the Tokyo Small and Medium Size Business Investment & Consultation Corporation.
1969 Established the Chiba factory as a painting/coating plant.
Commended by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry as a company contributing to Japan's economy through export.
Established Chiba Toso Co., Ltd. as a subsidiary company and started to run a baking/coating factory.
1971 Increased capital to 75 million yen. (Re-investment by the Tokyo Small and Medium Size Business Investment & Consultation Corporation.)
1972 Factory was designated once again as a model plant for a medium-small size company for its sucessful streamlining.
Productions of TOM Automatic Tying Machine reached 20,000.
1974 Masatoshi Yamada became the second president while the first president, Komakich Yamada was promoted to chairman of the board.
1981 Developed Model-OT Book Packaging Machine.
1987 Chiba plant moved to Sakura Daisann Kogyo Danchi, where it was renovated and modernized.
1990 Productions of TOM Automatic Tying Machine reached 70,000.
1993 Sought protection from its creditors under the corprate reorganization proceedings held at the Chiba District Court.
Corporate reorganization proceedings were called for.
Attorney Hideki Matsushima was elected as a company trustee.
1995 Corporate reorganization plan was developed and approved.
Corporate headquarters moved to Sakura City.
Hiroshi Azuma, an acting trustee, became president.
Hiroshi Azuma was elected as a trustee of the business.

1996 Established a 'main' processing factory in Sakura City, where the pre-existing Funabashi plant was relocated.

Tadanori Nakamura, an acting trustee, became the fourth president.
